O clássico da infância sessentista
“Thunderbirds” está de volta. De acordo com o jornal “The Guardian”, a série onde
os atores eram marionetes ganhará uma nova versão pelo canal britânico ITV, em
2015, 50 anos depois de seu lançamento.
O remake, provisoriamente intitulado
“Thunderbirds are go!”, titulo original da série dos anos 60, será produzido em
colaboração com o estúdio de efeitos especiais Weta Workshop, da Nova Zelândia,
o mesmo em que Peter Jackson produziu os longas “Senhor dos anéis” e “O
Hobbit”.
Prometida e adiada desde 2011, a nova série
já tem 26 episódios encomendado pela ITV e deverá ser um mix de animação
e ação com bonecos.
Em 2004, "Thunderbirds" ganhou uma adaptação em
live action (com atores de carne e osso) para o cinema, sendo mal recebida pela
critica e pelos fãs.

Em dezembro do 2013, Gerry Anderson, o
britânico criador da série "Thunderbirds", morreu aos 83 anos. Anderson
começou sua carreira na televisão na década de 1950, criando uma série de
espetáculos populares britânicos, incluindo "Stingray", de 1964, e o
"Capitão Escarlate", de 1967. Sua empresa, AP Films, foi pioneira na
técnica de marionetes. "Thunderbirds", seu maior sucesso, estreou em
1965 com bonecos de marionete. A série era sobre uma organização secreta que
realizava missões de resgate utilizando ferramentas de alta tecnologia e
veículos. Entre os personagens célebres, o ex-astronauta Jeff Tracy e o agente
Lady Penelope, mas os verdadeiros protagonistas da série eram as espetaculares
